tion 13. I have made this alteration, as it appears to conduce to
greater clearness. The answer, however, as now given does not
state any particulars as to the beam of vessels which can be ac-
commodated either at Holt's Wharf or Kowloon Wharves, or at the
buoys. I imagine that the beam is in each case unlimited, but I
should be glad to be sure.

(4). It will further be seen that in answer to Question I have
now inserted two extracts from Mr. Chatham's Memorandum. It ap-
pears to me that the information ought to be given in order to
make the position of the harbour clear. I should be glad to know
whether the Colonial Government concur in the answer as it now
stands. Possibly it may be thought desirable to omit the refer-
ence to difficulties with the Chinese Customs and other Authori-
ties.
(5). I notice that no alteration has been made in the note ob

With reference to paragraph 2 of the Governor's despatch of
26th. August I hope to be able to arrange for six copies of the
print of information respecting Ports and Harbours of the British
Empire to be forwarded to him when it is revised.
